“Whether or not you become a B Corp, the world will be better for you going through the process”

Alex, Climbing Trees.

Back in 2022, I had a chat with Alex from Climbing Trees where I shared my thoughts about wanting to explore B Corp as an organisation. This led us on a journey through 2023 to discover more about the process, undertake an initial assessment and finally submit an application to B Lab.

We're delighted to announce that as of March 2025, which just so happens to be B Corp month, Steadfast Collective is a certified B Corp organisation.

What is a B Corp?

A B Corp (Benefit Corporation) is a business that balances profit with purpose. These certified companies meet high standards of social and environmental responsibility, ensuring they positively impact workers, communities, and the planet.

Over recent years, the B Corp movement has seen significant growth in the UK. As of April 2024, there are over 2,400 certified B Corporations across the country. Globally, Steadfast Collective is now part of a growing community of over 9,500 businesses that have certified as B Corps.

A few notable B Corps you might recognise include:

  • Patagonia (Outdoor Gear) – Uses recycled materials and funds environmental activism.

  • Ben & Jerry’s (Ice Cream) – Supports fair trade and social justice.

  • Allbirds (Shoes) – Makes sustainable footwear and offsets carbon emissions.

Our Legacy

One of the joys of undertaking the process for becoming a B Corp was finding out how little we needed to change to find ourselves accreditation ready. When Rachel and I started Steadfast Collective, we knew we wanted to be a business whose successes flow outwards; cares for our team and prioritises the planet. Goals we continue to push and aspire towards every day.

Our clients and prospective clients can be assured that they are partnering with a company that is practicing and prioritising ethical practices; working towards a positive impact for both our people and the planet.

It was great to find that so many of our goals, processes and practices were already aligned to what it means to be a B Corp. For us, the process of accreditation was primarily ensuring we had documented our good work and then providing proof to the team at B Lab - a great exercise for us to undertake and reflect on.

What’s next?

We are incredibly proud of this achievement, but we’re not finished yet. B Corp for us is not a checkbox exercise, but a nod of approval while we strive to be better in how we care for people and the planet.

We are actively looking for new and innovative ways to better support our staff and clients, and to look at how our working practices, relationships with chosen partners and relationships, all impact our shared home; planet Earth.
