Summer Sharing: Holly & Co's Campaign Shop Independent
Steadfast Collective loves to champion communities online, and so do many of our clients.
This week we wanted to highlight the successful work of one of our valued clients, Holly & Co.
Headed up by notonthehighstreet.com founder Holly Tucker, Holly & Co. seeks to champion small business owners with a wide range of business advice, resources and inspiration. Their community of like-minded founders and entrepreneurs are spread far and wide rooting to change the small business landscape.
Holly & Co believe that, if you have a passion, you have the ability to turn that passion into a business, doing what you love.
In June, the Holly & Co team spearheaded Campaign Shop Independent, encouraging every adult to spend £1 (or more) with an independent business to boost local economies and support business owners. They ran an incredible small business tour with a double-decker bus, provided marketing assets and got social, sharing their message across the UK.
As a team, we recognise the importance of shopping small and voting with our money to support the makers, creators, craftsmen and women looking to make an impact, sell their products, and support their local economy.
So, we asked the Steadfast Collective team to share their current favourite independent businesses and why…
Pete – Rapanui
“Rapanui are an independent clothing brand based on the Isle of Wight. Their mission is to make clothing sustainable, using natural materials, renewable energy, and making products to be recyclable when they are worn out. Several people within the Steadfast team shop with Rapanui but I particularly love it for their quality materials, excellent customer service and company ethos.”
Steve – Horsham Coffee Roaster
“Horsham Coffee Roaster are genuinely committed and investing in the coffee growers who they know by name. They were early adopters of carbon-neutral delivery and have recently altered their packaging to be fully recyclable. Their profits are used to make positive and incremental improvements and their product is great.”
Duncan – Topping & Company Booksellers
“I went to one of the Topping & Company Booksellers bookshops in St Andrews last year and it’s got books piled high (up to the ceiling with ladders) much like the traditional bookshops I imagine. Their collection is extensive and inspiring. I’d much rather purchase from Topping & Company than the large, generic chains.” https://www.toppingbooks.co.uk/
Dan – Fish Factory
“Fish Factory are a small art-space-come-cafe just down the road from where I live. They showcase independent artists, host live music, serve great food and coffee, and loads more. I really enjoy the variety of art and music they have going on there and every time I go inside, there is a new gallery on show supporting artists’ work.”
Here’s to the small businesses, the entrepreneurs, the dreamers and creatives!
Where will you be shopping independent this summer?
