Summary

Fusion Conferences is a family run organiser of high quality scientific meetings, typically 70 to 100 participants, with venues and programmes designed to balance serious science with time to rest and connect. The brief was to modernise the site so it looks and feels premium without tipping into a travel vibe, to keep registration friendly for academics who are not very tech savvy, and to better showcase service, family friendliness, and the restorative experience.

Objectives

  • Completely revamp the site while keeping the existing backend intact, respecting current data models and fields,

  • Present conferences in a way that sells value clearly, while keeping medical credibility front and centre.

  • Improve sponsor credibility and partner visibility.

  • Reduce offsite queries with clearer content patterns and smarter FAQs.

Design

We introduced a calm editorial style and refined palette to signal premium quality without using the word “luxury.” A sticky Register CTA keeps the path to booking in view. Conference pages use clear hierarchy, anchors for long content, and simplified sub navigation, so users can jump to prices, venue, programme, and FAQs. Imagery focuses on real conference settings and attentive service.

For credibility, partner logos appear as a subtle ribbon near the footer. The front end is component based and responsive, with semantic HTML, ARIA where appropriate, and image optimisation for better Core Web Vitals.

Conferences & listings

Cards present key facts at a glance with considered typography. We retained familiar filters and prepared a future safe approach for refined subject categories, recognising different demands of conference categories.

Registration & account

The booking journey keeps the proven sequence - account, ticket type, dates and room, talk submission, then payment - now with clearer step feedback and simple back controls. We added an invoice preview step that itemises changes before payment, with Stripe handling transactions.

The backend runs on Laravel with a custom CMS, so all improvements were designed to work within existing data structures and routes.

News, FAQs, sponsors

News is a lightweight stream for quick updates and event day highlights. Contextual FAQs surface on relevant pages to cut down email volume. Sponsorship content shifts from package lists to “why sponsor” outcomes, with testimonials and clearer benefits, while partners gain consistent visibility sitewide.

Results & impact

A calmer, more credible first impression, faster scanning of conferences, clearer paths to register, and fewer offsite queries through better FAQs and sponsor guidance. The platform respects today’s backend while creating room for future phases.
