The International Climate Politics Hub (ICPH) is a high trust network hosted by the European Climate Foundation that publishes timely briefings for moments like COP, G7, and G20.

The team asked for a site that feels credible, is easy to share, and removes friction that users experience today. Success means better usability and accessibility, clearer paths to the latest briefings, and a public facing story that explains what ICPH is while keeping most content member only.

Objectives

  • Get users to the right briefings quickly, including long form content with internal anchors and footnotes.

  • Make search more powerful, including searching within briefings and filtering by event, topic, region, and country.

  • Explain the relationship between ECF and ICPH and provide a clear request access path.

  • Improve the events timeline and bring back an interactive map that links to country snapshots.

Design

We introduced a calm editorial system that prioritises scannability. Cards and concise excerpts surface the newest briefs. Anchors jump to key sections like In short or Messages. Footnotes and tables are styled for clarity. The interactive map acts as a pre-filter, opening country snapshots and related briefs. Colour and typography respect accessibility while reflecting the new brand.

CMS & data

The site runs on Statamic inside Laravel, giving editors a friendly control panel and developers a robust framework. We built custom automations and API endpoints that synchronise user and profile data from Airtable to the website. A custom Statamic ViewModel determines which page builder blocks a user can see based on role while keeping performance in check. News uses an accessible Load More pattern. The integration is designed so future sources of truth, such as Microsoft Dynamics, can be adopted without rework.

Results & impact

Users find and scan briefings faster, with better search, anchors, and readable layouts. Editors have a reliable way to publish and structure long content, link snapshots from the map, and present ICPH’s mission with confidence. The foundation gains a platform that is easier to maintain and ready to grow.
