XLVets

XLVets brings together independently owned veterinary practices across farm, equine, and small animal care. The team wanted a modern site that reflects a proud 20th year, feels premium without being corporate, and showcases a friendly community that stands for clinical excellence. The brief prioritised three groups. People who need to find a local practice. Current or prospective member practices who want to understand the value of joining. Students and early career vets who are exploring training and roles. The new site pairs a cleaner visual language with faster journeys and better content tools so the team can publish more and keep the community front and centre.

Objectives

• Make it easy to find a nearby practice and route the public to the right place.

• Give careers and student pathways clear space with strong job discovery.

• Celebrate member stories and publications to fuel community pride.

Design

We created a warm, welcoming interface that feels human and not corporate, with clear signposting for Find a Practice, Join the Community, and Training and Careers. Imagery emphasises people and real settings from member practices, supported by simple iconography for species and services. Page structures favour quick scanning over heavy text and mirror the scannable design blocks you use elsewhere.

CMS & data

The site is built on Statamic, which runs inside Laravel. This stack gives editors a friendly control panel and gives developers the flexibility and reliability of a modern PHP framework. We set up a twice daily sync that pulls practice and branch records from an external API into a local database, then merges them with CMS content. Editors can also trigger a manual sync in Statamic. This keeps listings fast and reliable while the source data remains accurate. 

Careers & alerts

Vacancies live in the CMS with clear multi select filters. Users can subscribe to weekly Job Alerts that email new roles from the last seven days. Unsubscribe controls are included, and the XLVets team manages the list in one place.

Training

We raised the visibility of VetSkills so members and candidates can find graduate support, leadership development, and practical CPD quickly. Third party booking remains in use, so the journey is designed to keep users exploring relevant courses and content on return.

Results & impact

The site now guides distinct audiences with more clarity, delivers always current practice listings without API bottlenecks, and supports regular publishing and career outreach. It presents XLVets as premium yet welcoming and gives the team room to grow content with confidence.
